  1. Evaluation of section 2 By Pascal Jones

  2. Contents • Timeline - With comments about learning points, how each step went in practice, what I would change if I were to do it again. • Feedback – With comments about learning points and improvements • The challenges

  3. Timeline • The process behind the poetry event can be summarised into five main categories: • Conception • Planning / Event • Application

  4. Timeline Conception • When I joined the Arts Award scheme I did so for two reasons. They were to improve my own level of poetry and that of others, especially in my school environment. This is due to the fact that I have observed people in my school consider poetry to be out-dated, or uncool, resulting in many people dismissing it. In my opinion this is wholly untrue, and from personal experience know that it can be a very good way of expressing oneself, especially in times of need. This is what I wished to change through the poetry event.

  7. Feedback The Event Summary Data 100% found organisation of the event to be good or very good The average response on how they found their experience at the event was good, with 40% stating that it was very good. • All the feedback about the event was positive, with people saying that organisation was one of the strong points. However on further reflection there were mixed views as to their experience, ranging from neutral to very good. In the response section they stated that they would like to have had more people in the event, with a prize at the end to make it have a more competitive feel. They all agreed that they would like to have another poetry event, and the majority suggested an event within the time period of a term. Some even wished to have one monthly.

  8. Leaning points • People entering the event needed motivation and encouragement before the event. I have learnt how to support my peers through this process • I have learned how to organise an event, encompassing the structure and process that one must follow to make sure that it goes ahead. Publicity and entry selection are a few examples.

  9. The challenges • My main challenges that planning and running this event involved:

  10. Improvements Problem Solution Increase publicity for event Do more rehearsals with the people taking part in the event • Low number of audience members • The event felt spontaneous
