SRAA NationalsGame Plan • 78th Annual Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) National Regatta • Cooper River, NJ • http://www.sraa.net • May 24 – 26, 2012 • 26 WSHS athletes to compete • SRAA regatta meetings • Initial meeting – 14 May, 7:30 PM, Lower Cafeteria • Final meeting – 21 May, 7:30 PM, Lower Cafeteria

  3. Parents taking the bus • The number of parents taking the bus will impact how much we charge. • If you are planning on taking the bus, please let me know now.

  4. Itinerary • Thurs, 24 May • 6:30-7:30 AM – Drop off bags • 11:00 AM – Release from school & load bus • 3:00 PM – Assemble at boat trailer (Cooper River) • 4:00 – 5:00 PM – Test Weigh-in and practice • 5:30 PM – Bus to hotel (Wyndham Hotel, Mt. Laurel, NJ) • 6:30 PM – Check-in, sandwich dinner, meet w/ coaches • 10:00 PM – Lights out • Friday, 25 May • 6:00 AM – Bus take athletes to regatta site (based on schedule) • 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM – Race • 5:00 PM – Bus take athletes back to hotel • 6:30 PM– Pasta dinner for athletes (at hotel) then coaches meetings • 10:00 PM – Lights out

Itinerary (Cont) • Saturday, 26 May • 6:00 AM – Bus take athletes to regatta site (based on schedule) • 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM – Race • 5:00 PM– Bus take athletes back to Woodbridge High School • 9:15 PM– Bus arrives • Sunday, 27 May • 10:00 AM – Parents clean up regatta site equipment • 1:00 PM – Athletes put boats away

  6. What to Pack? • Plan on unpredictable weather…hot, cold, wet, dry • Pack for both extremes • We are outside for 10-12 hours per day • Bring extra socks/sun screen/rain gear • Put athlete’s name on everything they bring • Difficult to leave and return by car

  7. Standards of Behavior • Be courteous, no drugs/alcohol, no cursing, good manners • Respect adult chaperones (comply with directions, promptly / courteously) • Travel in groups when away from Woodbridge’s regatta site • Need escort outside area between the boat trailer & regatta site • No "staking out" floor space in tent area. When you leave, gather up personal items and set them to the side of the tent area • At the hotel, be respectful of other hotel guests. Control volume of conversations in common areas, elevators, hallways • Wear appropriate clothing at all times • No switching rooms • No one needs to go into the stairwells at the hotel • No “Purple” (ask your coach to explain)

Laurel, NJ • 20 rooms reserved for Rowers & Coaches • Parents must make their own reservations • 856-234-7000 • Room rate $103.00 per night (includes tax) • Same hotel as Stotesbury! • Check-in: Thursday, 24 May • Check-out: Saturday, 26 May • Renting a bus

Costs • Cost per rower: • Rent a bus: $290 (w/ 7 bus seats sold) • Checks or credit card accepted • Charge includes • Transportation (56-passenger buses or parents drive) • Breakfasts and lunches during regatta • Sandwich dinner (Thursday) • Pasta dinner (Friday) • Hotel accommodation (two nights) • Regatta registration fees • Boat trailer transportation costs

  13. SRAA Nationals Regatta Volunteers • Bag Checkers • Who: Three (3) Volunteers Needed • What: Check rower bags for medications, glass bottles, dangerous items, etc. • Where: Woodbridge High School • When: 24 May (Thur), ~6:30 AM – 9:30 AM • POC: Dani Radoye

SRAA Nationals RegattaVolunteers • Bus Chaperones • Who: One volunteer • What: Ride with rowers to/from events, answer questions, help kids as needed • When / Where: • 24 May (Thur) - WSHS to Regatta Site, then Hotel • 25 May (Fri) - Hotel to Regatta Site • 25 May (Fri) - Regatta Site to Hotel • 26 May (Sat) - Hotel to Regatta Site • 26 May (Sat) - Regatta Site to Woodbridge HS • POC: TBD?

SRAA Nationals RegattaVolunteers • Room Chaperones • Who: Six (6) Volunteers • What / Where: • Issue/collect keys, patrol corridors, head counts, help rowers as needed • Inspect rooms before check-in and after check-out • When: • Thursday 7:00 PM– 10:00 PM • Friday 8:00 PM– 10:00 PM • POC: Melodie Feather

  16. SRAA Nationals Regatta Volunteers • Kitchen Operations • Who: 8 Volunteers • What: • Food preparation – breakfast and lunch • Servers – buffet line • Dish washers/”KP” team • Site clean-up • When: • Friday 25 May and Saturday 26 May • 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM each day • POC: Gary Tallman

  17. SRAA Nationals Regatta Volunteers • Recovery Operations • Who: 8+ Volunteers • What: • Unload and Reconstitute equipment • When: • Sunday, 27 May; Time: 10:00 AM • POC: Mark Pohlmeier

  18. What do Parents need to do? • Attend Final Regatta Orientation meeting on 21 May – Mandatory • 7:30 PM Lower Cafeteria • Pay Regatta fee • Fill out Permission slips and rules statement • If not done for Stotesbury Regatta • Volunteer! • Ensure athletes are prepared (pack appropriately, extra money, medications, sun screen, etc)
