  4. The Tools of Production • The tools we have used to make things has changed greatly throughout human history. • Early tools were made of stone and were used to hunt and gather food. This period is known as the Stone Age which lasted between 700,000 to 10,000 years ago. • From about 9000 years ago to the 1700’s, people began to settle and farm the land using hand tools and ploughs. This period is known as the Agricultural Age. • Between the 1700’s and 1800’s the first factories were developed , using tools/machines that were powered by steam or flowing water. Later electricity would become a major power source. This period is known as the Industrial Age. • More recently within the last 30 years electronic tools have been created to automate processes, develop, send, and receive information. This period is known as the Information Age.

  5. Create a timeline using MS Excel Timeline spreadsheet showing the tools of the 1. Stone Age 2. Agricultural Age 3. Industrial Age 4. Information Age. • Each entry must give the date the tool was used, what it was used for, and a picture. • Marks will be given for the completeness of your timeline entries ( dates, info), images, timeline organization (proper spacing/placement of years, extension lines that do not overlap or go beyond touching the timeline itself, extension lines that intersect the timeline at the appropriate date stated, and customization).
