  2. Background (1) • Inventorization of contaminated sites- two step approach • LGT projects • Declaration of activities • More than 6000 potentially contaminated sites in DB of LGT • 1099 pesticide storages inventored (3200 t decontaminated, 1000 t stored in controled places.

  3. Background (2) - Gaps • Inventorization not finished, • No regulation of environmental investigation, • No methodology for ranking, risk assesment, etc, • Contaminated sites investigated only preliminary and no systematic approach (400 investigated, 33 former pesticides storages), • Pollution by POT (soil), triazinic pesticides (groundwater)

  4. Legislation in 2006-2007 • Programm for 2006-2015 on management of environment protection against POP pollution (October 2006,No.970) • Programm for 2007-2013 on management of the sites of former pesticides storeges and sites contaminated by pesticides (April 2007, No.350)

  5. Action plan - 2007 • To prepare regulation for environmental investigations (LGT), • To prepare methodology for risk evaluation (ranking, deccission for further actions, etc.),LGT • Requirements for management of contaminated sites (values, funding, responsibility), MoE,LGT • To set priorities (LGT)

  6. Action plan - 2008-2009 • To finish inventory, LGT, 2008 III) • To make National priority list (LGT) • Preliminary and detail investigations according the list (LGT), • Final list for actions (LGT) • 2007-2013 Remediation (Municipalities)

Implementation • Regulation on environment investigations (Order of Director of LGT, January 2007, No.1-10) • Obligatory for: • Companies carrying out investigations • For companies preparing groundwater monitoring programmes • Recommended for: • Municipaities, • Owners of activities from extended list (anexs 1 and 2 IPPS)
