  1. Amazing Tips for New Pellet Grill Owners When you buy a new pellet grill, you may not be familiar with the equipment. So, here are some amazing tips to help with some of those early concerns or questions. Weather Changes Good outdoor grills have insulation to ensure the heat in your grill stays where it’s supposed to! From the grates to the bottom of the barrel, a layer of insulation should keep the cool air out and the hot air inside. This takes away the need for a thermal blanket for your grill in cold weather. Did you know even hot weather could affect your grilling experience? Pellet grills run at a minimum temperature, and that temperature isn’t usually impacted too much. On extremely cold days, your grill may have to work harder to get to higher temperatures. On the other hand, on exceedingly hot days, your grill will easily reach those high-end temperatures, but may have a hard time holding the low temps.

  2. Shiny New Grills When you get a brand-new grill, it is all shiny, you can still smell the manufacturer’s oils and you’re excited for your first grilling experience. Here’s a perfect tip to fire that grill up for the first few times. Your grill’s shiny new surface in the cooking area actually affects its performance. For the first few grilling sessions, the shiny surfaces will amplify the heat in the grill, making it run a little hotter than what you expect. After the first 5-10 grilling sessions, the surfaces may begin to gather soot. If that happens, the grill will begin to hold the low temperatures more steadily. Since summer is when many people start thinking of their outdoor living spaces and how to make the most of them, they also pick up an outdoor grill for the first time during the hot summer months of the year. That means when you are turning that grill on for the first time, it is likely to be pretty warm. Therefore, in the early cooks, the shiny reflective surfaces and the high heat may bring some inconsistency in the initial cooks until you break the grill in a bit. Let’s talk about the solution here. To begin with, don’t go straight for complex, advanced grilling adventures, such as brisket. Take the first few grilling sessions to cook and grill something simpler, such as burgers, bacon, chicken thighs or anything else you are already a master at. Once you’ve broken in your new pellet grill and have become extremely familiar with how it works, the high and the low temperatures, you can dive into the longer, complex and expensive smokes!
