  2. The role of IFL • The Icelandic Fisheries Laboratories is a research institute serving the seafood industry and other aspects of the food industry • Main activity • Research and development • Services to the industry and authority • analytical services • consultation

  3. The value of the seafood export has not increased for the last few years – why?

  4. Where to start? • More effort into research and development • More co-operation between the industry and the experts at the research institutions and Universities

  5. Who should be involved? • Seafood industry (fishing and processing) • Goverment • Research institutes • Universities • Other industry than seafood

  6. Research and development at IFL • The goal is to increase the value, quality and safety of seafood. • Research is carried out in close co-operation with domestic and foreign companies, universities and scientific institutions. • Projects are partly funded by domestic funds, the EU, Nordic funds, and various companies. • Knowledge is disseminated through publication of articles in scientific and professional journals, and/or directly to our clients.
