  2. Description • Develop ideal times for natural ventilation to work, based on thermal mass, rate of ventilation, effect of difference in moisture content, effect of latent heat emitted by various sources and thermal comfort range, and optimized cooling times by use of indoor temperature as an index. • Develop a software package that aids a designer with a ventilation system to achieve the above objectives.

  3. Factors affecting heat characteristics

  4. Application of the Tool • Office • Manufacturing Plant Sections of the tool Input Walls & Windows Lighting Final User’s Guide

  5. Input Sheet • Requires basic information about the operation of the unit. • Accounts for the heat gain due to motors, furnishings and workmen.

  6. Walls & Windows Sheet • Requires information about the area, alignment and thermal conductivity of walls and windows. • The sheet employs compute buttons to calculate different factors, which provides the heat gain due to walls and windows for final calculation.

  7. Lighting Sheet • User is required to selects the type of light and the number of each corresponding type. • Calculates the heat generated by the lightings and supplies to the final sheet.

  8. Final Sheet • Provides the final calculation for the indoor temperature. • User is not required to input any information. It automatically takes all the required data from the previous sheets.

  9. User’s Guide • Contains information required for comfortable working with the tool. • Gives an easy step by step approach for determining cooling hours.
