  2. Family • My mother was Dorothy Ewing, and my father was Carl Ewing • I had six other siblings all younger than me • My mother passed away after a heart attack

  3. Where I am from • I was Born August 5, 1962. • I am from Kingston Jamaica, and I have 6 younger siblings • We were very poor

  4. When I moved • I moved in 1975 and I was 12 years old • Came to Cambridge Massachusetts to live with family again after they split up in Jamaica.

  5. Reasons • After 4 years of living in Jamaica alone (without parents) Family raised enough money to bring me and my siblings to theU.S. • My dad always wanted to come to the US

  6. Basketball • Very poor when he came to U.S. • Loved basketball in Jamaica so he continued to play • He was a natural, at 12 years old he was 6 foot 6 inches • Played four years of college basketball at Georgetown University in Washington D. C.

  7. Known for • I Played for the NBA • I Was New York’s 3rd leading scorer with over 24,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists • Averaged 21 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 1.9 APG, 2.45 BPG, 34.3 MinPG • Played for New York, Seattle, and Orlando • Inducted into madison square garden walk of fame on October 29, 1996

  8. Community • I lived in a poor community and worked very hard for money • In my free time I would get some friends and play a pick-up basketball game • My mother did not work

  9. Interesting facts • Learned to play basketball from my neighbors • Attended Georgetown University in Washington DC • Had a kid while at college • Named on of the 50 greatest player of all time
