  • The Massey Commission set out to investigate the effect of foreign influence on Canada’s culture.
  • The Report was issued in1951: It advocated that the federal government give support and provide aid to a wide range of cultural activities.
  • Advocacy of the spending of public funds for artistic endeavours was not seen favourably at the time.
