  2. There are 2 kinds of articles • The definite article indicates one particular person or thing. (the) • The indefinite article indicates a single but not particular thing. (a/an) • We use a when the noun starts with a consonant. • We use an when the noun starts with a vowel.

  3. exceptions • When the ‘u’ sounds like ‘yu’ it takes ‘a’ e.g. • uniform • When an ‘h’ is silent it takes ‘an’ e.g. • Honest or hour.

  4. Rewrite the following sentences- inserting the appropriate article in the spaces. • The best show I ever saw was about a guy who wanted to be an astronaut. • He wanted to go to the moon so he needed a spaceship. • In the show the guy was either a Kiwi or an Australian. I couldn’t tell. • In the end he didn’t get there, but he met an alien on the planet Mars.
