  4. Symptoms • Pulsing or intense throbbing in head • Nausea and vomiting • Sensitivity to light and sound • Physically sensitive to touch on head • Can last 4-72 hours

  5. Triggers • Change in sleep patterns • Missing or delaying a meal • TV or movie viewing • Certain foods • Excessive noise • Stress or depression

  6. Classic Migraine • Has an aura to it that happens 20-45 minutes before the pain starts • Only 20% of people get an aura in a migraine

  7. Cluster Headache • Sharp severe pain developing within a few minutes • Happens on one side of head or behind eye. • Usually have one or more daily

  8. How they work…. • Brain cells trigger the trigeminal nerve • Swelling of blood vessels on brain • Blood vessels send pain signals to brainstem

  9. Treatment Options • Manage your known triggers • Approved drugs like Excedrin, Motrin and Advil Migraine. • Prescriptions; Maxalt, Imitrexand Zomig
