  5. Q2: How many different CUNY Colleges are there? Answer: 24

  6. Q3: What is the difference between a 4-year college and a community college? Answer: The biggest difference is that 4-year colleges grant Bachelor’s degrees, while community colleges grant only Associate’s degree.

  7. Q4: Name 3 CUNY colleges in Brooklyn. Answer: Brooklyn College, Kingsborough Community College, New York City College of Technology (City Tech), Medgar Evers

  8. Q5: Name 3 CUNY colleges in Manhattan. Answer: Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), Hunter College, Baruch College, City College, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Guttman Community College (formerly New Community College)

  9. Q6: What are SEEK and College Discovery? Answer: SEEK (Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge) and CD are “NY State Programs designed to assist students who are both academically and financially disadvantaged.” Basically, they recognize that not all students have had access to similar college-going resources, and seek to help level the playing field for entrance to higher education by offering help with paying for college, and academic resources to students once they’re in college.

  17. Instructions to Build a CUNY List 1. Use the Discover CUNY Booklet, to find schools that have majors/programs you are interested in. 2. Using the CUNY Admissions Profile, select six schools that have mean GPA/SAT scores close to you GPA/PSAT scores. 3. Decide if those schools are Reach, Target, or Safety schools.
