  2. Michigan Automobile Industry 1896 Henry Ford and Ransom E. Olds both produced a gasoline powered car. 1901 The price tag for an Oldsmobile Runabout was $695. 1904 The Buick Car Company1901 Oldsmobile Runabout is bought by “Billy” Durant and begins to do well.

  3. Michigan Automobile Industry 1908 The Model T, nicknamed the “Tin Lizzie”, became the world’s most popular car. 1908 “Billy” Durant combines Buick, Cadillac, Oldsmobile and several other companies to form General Motors.

  4. Michigan Automobile Industry 1914 John & Horace Dodge leave Ford Motor Company to form their own company. The 1914 Dodge Brothers Touring Car known as "Old Betsy."
