  6. Does love have to hurt? “I apologize, even though I know it’s lies I’m tired of the games, I just want her back, I know I’m a liar If she ever tries to f*in leave again, I’m a tie her to the bed And set this house on fire” - Eminem, Love the Way You Lie “Makes a mill' up off a sorry hoe” - Jay Z, Big Pimpin’

  7. What about Pimps? “This hoe you can have her, when I'm done I ain't gon keep her... She got on Payless, me I got on gator shoes... ...choose with me, I'll have you stripping in the street...” -50 Cent, P.I.M.P

  8. The true colours of a pimp • Sees people as commodities that can be sold over and over for financial gain • Believes profits are worth stripping individuals of their physical, mental and emotional well-being • How would YOU define honour, power or success?

  9. Controlling their victim • The trafficker may use many ways to control their victim including: • Physical and/or sexual violence • Psychological abuse • Threats/intimidation • Fear of reprisal and family finding out • Blackmail with footage • Forced drug addiction • Branding/tattooing • Fear of police/being arrested Even though there are no literal chains holding them back, would you feel free to leave?

  10. THE GAME • The goal is to make money, regardless of how they treat another person • Steps: • Recruitment - finding girls at the mall, online, at school • Grooming – making their victims believe they are in love, treating them like queens • Isolation /Breaking – controlling who their victim sees and speaks to, limiting connections with outside community, forcing them to check in every few hours

  11. Let’s Break the Silence

  12. When you post it, you lose it

  13. Think before you meet If you want to arrange to meet an online friend, ask an adult or a trusted friend to go with you. Always meet in a public place, preferably during the day.

  14. Being Cyber-Wise • Be careful who you trust—a person can pretend to be someone they are not • Don't use a webcam with people you do not know • Think before you post, chat, upload or download. • Don’t participate in hurtful and mean facebook groups and posts • Be specific about who can see your posts • Limit your friend list—don’t 'friend' random people • Protect your privacy—don’t share your password and set your profile to private • Your personal details are valuable—don’t share them • Protect your reputation—keep it clean and ask yourself: would you want others to see what you upload?

  15. Summing Up… • Why won’t YOU become a victim? • Think about your friends, what signs should you look for? • Challenge what the media and peers tells us about being boys, girls and intimate relationships • Where to get help • Who to call
