  1. Lesson Objective Identify triangles by their angles.

  2. What you already know!!!!! You have already learned different types of angles. Right angle Acute angle

  3. Concept Right Triangle- one right angle

  4. Concept Obtuse Triangle- one angle greater than a right angle

  5. Concept Acute Triangle- three angles less than a right angle

  6. Example  Right Triangle

  7. Example  Acute Triangle

  8. Non-Example  Right Triangle

  9. Non-Example  Obtuse Triangle

  10. Importance • Understanding different types of triangles will help you with passing the district and state test. • If you want to get a job as a builder you need to know the different types of triangles that would work for different structures

  11. Skill Steps: • Look at the triangle. • Ask does this triangle make a right angle? (if yes then you have a right triangle, if no continue) • Ask is the triangle smaller or bigger than a right triangle? If smaller than you have an acute triangle, if bigger than you have an obtuse triangle.

  12. Model Problems on the board

  13. Practice Obtuse Triangle

  14. Practice Acute Triangle

  15. Practice Right Triangle

  16. Closure • What was our objective for the day? • Why is it important to learn about different triangles? • What is this triangle called?
