  2. Denotation- Eagle Connotation- The eagle is a symbol for: power, independence and beauty. It is also described as the king of all birds. In this picture, it is related to Hitler. The sun too supports this thought as it looks like the eagle was sent from God, and so creates the illusion that God approves Hitler’s actions.

  3. Denotation- A crowd behind Hitler Connotation- This shows a huge crowd behind Hitler looking like they support him. This makes the viewer ask himself- “if they support him, why shouldn’t I?”

  4. Denotation- A sentence saying- “Long live Germany!” Connotation- This slogan brings up the nationalism in the viewer. They then see Hitler and they think that he can make Germany big again.

  5. Denotation- Hitler Connotation- His stern, mercilesss, determined look, fills the viewer with trust as he looks into the eyes of a man who is strong and can lead the country to greatness

  6. Denotation- A clenched fist Connotation- The clenched fist stands for power and tells the viewer that demands will be backed up with aggresion. It is also a symbol that is “against” something, in this case the Weimar Republic and everyone who the Nazi’s opposed
