  2. Catching Drill • -Practice catching snaps from either a long snapper or someone standing about 10 yards away throwing the ball underhand to simulate a snap. Work on catching the ball and turning the laces up quickly. After some reps with that practice catching the ball, turning it, and taking your punt steps at game speed.

  3. Drop Drill • -Stand in punting stance with kicking foot on a line. Step forward like a normal punt and drop the ball on the line. The drop is slightly different for each punter; find what drop is best for you. To start try and make the ball land flat and bounce straight back up. Once you find the drop you like continue dropping the ball and taking your steps while trying to make every drop bounce back up the same exact way.

  4. Leg Swing Drill • -Stand in punting stance with punting foot on the line. Go through a dry-run, which means a full punt without a ball. Practice swinging your leg straight up and straight down, landing on the line each time.

  5. One-Step Drill • -Stand with punting foot forward and plant foot about two to three feet back. Take one step with your plant foot and kick the ball. This drill is not about distance it is about • No-Steps • -Stand with punting foot back and plant foot forward. Hold the ball low and without taking any steps kick the ball. The ball should go 10-25 yards and have a good spiral. This drill is not about distance it is only about contact.

  6. Ball PlacementDrill • -Stand with punting foot forward and plant foot about two to three feet back. Take one step with your plant foot and kick the ball. This drill is not about distance it is about placement of the punt. Coach will call out where to punt the ball to which numbered position. 5 1 6 6 2 3 7 4 8

  7. “COFFIN CORNER” Placement Drill • -Stand with punting foot forward and plant foot about two to three feet back. Take one step with your plant foot and kick the ball.
