  2. Introduction • Agriculture is a vital sector of Pakistan,s economy contributioning 21% of GDP • emploing 44% of work force • 67.5% are leaving in rural areas and directly involved in agriculture • Main agricultural products are cotton,wheat,rice,sugar cane,fruits and vegetable

  3. Crops Rabi (Winter) Kharif (Summer)

  4. Cotton • An important cash crop of • Pakistan • Accounts for 8.6 % of value • added in agriculture • Contributes 1.8 % to GDP

  5. Cotton Growing Regions

  6. Sugar Cane • Most important cash crop grown in kharif season. • It provides raw material to sugar and sugar related industries. • Its share in value added of Agriculture is 3.6 %. • Its account for GDP is 0.8 %.

  8. Rice • It is grown in kharif season. • Rice is an important cash crop and one of the main export item of Pakistan. • It accounts for 6.4 % of value added in Agriculture and countributes 1.4 % GDP. • Pakistan grows high quality rice to meet both domestic demand and for export.

Remedies • Feudalism should be abolished and land should be alloted to poor farmers. • Good quality seeds can increase crop yield by 10 to 20 %. • New Agricultral policy should be announced for small farmers. • Establishment of diffrent Agricultral zones. • Lestest machinery should be provided to farmers to increase per acre yield. • Proper irigation system.
