  1. Notes # 2 Carbon Dioxide in the Atmosphere

  2. 99 % of atmosphere either Nitrogen or Oxygen . Some of the remaining 1% include gases such as Carbon Dioxide , Methane, Nitrous Oxide. These are known as “Green House Gases” Which insulate the earth – preventing heat loss

  3. A certain amount of this “green house effect” is good because it helps earth maintain its temperature. Evidence shows an increase of CO2 &Methane in the atmosphere From 1990 to 2009 U.S. emission grew by 8.% These and the other green house gases have building since the start of the industrial revolution

  4. Increases in industry and population in North America and Europe caused an increase production of Green House gases.

  5. CO2 naturally regulated by- Plant & Algae Growth Absorption of CO2 by water As I.R. progressed more Industries developed and more land used –putting more CO2 into atmosphere

  6. The increases of Green house gases in the atmosphere has lead to changes in the climate .

  7. Average surface temperature are expected to go up , but changes in precipitation and sea level are also expected to change. Changes in precipitation and sea level may cause certain regions to cool
