  1. By : Mike, Jacinda, Eric A, Chris Relationships Between Parents and Children in The Kite Runner

  2. The authors intention is to make us aware about the relationship between parents and children. Throughout the novel the relationships between parents and children are either strong or weak, and they change throughout the novel. Thesis statement

  3. “If I hadn't seen the doctor pull him out of my wife with my own eyes, id never believe he's me son.” This quote shows the relationship between Baba and Amir and how they are not that close. It also shows that Baba believes that him and his son are complete opposites. Baba and Amir

  4. Page 111: the scene when Hassan is accused for taking amirs watch and money. This passage supports the theme because this part of the story is when Baba thinks Hassan stole Amir’s Watch and money and he agrees that he did, even though Amir set him up. Since Hassan is Baba’s son, he forgives him, just like every parent would forgive there child. Hassan and Baba

  5. Page 112-113 • Ali treats hassan like a son even though Ali is not really hassans father. Amir gets jealous because baba pays the same amount of attention to him as he does Hassan. Rahim Khan tells Amir that he is Hassans step brother and that’s why he has to pay for his un-atoned sins. Amir and Baba are very alike; they betrayed their trusted friends. Ali and Hassan leave the house. Hassan and Ali

  6. “My door is and always will be open to you, Amir Jan. I shall hear any story you have to tell”. This quote is very important because it shows the relationship between Amir and Rahim Khan. Amir’s real father Baba does not take interest in his sons writing, but Rahim Khan does. It appears that Rahim Khan is more of a caring father then Baba is. Amir and Rahim Khan

  7. The relationship between Amir and Sohrab is fragile. When Sohrab meets Amir, he trusted him to keep him safe, until Amir broke his promise to never put him back in an orphanage. Sohrab tries to end his misery by bleeding to death instead of being back in an orphanage a little longer until things get settled out, and become a citizen of America. Amir tries to be a better father with Sohrab than Baba was with him. It will take time for Sohrab to gain his trust again, however throughout the end of the novel, Sohrab starts to smile while he fly’s his kite. • “home for kids?” he said, his smile fading. "you mean an orphanage?” when Sohrab loses Amir’s trust by putting him back in an orphanage. Amir and Sohrab

  8. The theme of parent and children relationship evolves because at the beginning of the novel Amir and Baba didn’t really have a good relationship, but near the end of the novel, before he died, their relationship improved. Also Amir wants to give Sohrab a better relationship with him, then the relationship he had with Baba. How the theme evolves

  9. For the remaining of our time, our group would like you to get out a piece of loose-leaf and do a visual representation (drawing) of one parent and child relationship in the novel. You can draw any relationship you want, it can be either one of the ones we covered or maybe one we missed. The best piece of artwork and the most creative will win a cookie Class Assignment
