    2. background (why) JANI is a second phase of the previous DANI DANI was set up to increase the linkages and information sharing among NGOs and government agencies working in disaster risk management and advocate for CBDRM

    4. At that time, there was: A large group of DRR agencies A large scale of operation (nationwide)? A diverse range of activities (CBDRM, advocacy, awareness raising, etc)? A great pool of experiences, knowledge and resources But a common goal of improving the effectiveness of DRR in Vietnam

    5. The question is: how can they share the all the best practices and get the message to the policy makers?

    6. background And finally an initiative born to accommodate the goal: advocacy through a network, in addition to normal projects Network is set up among agencies getting funding from DIPECHO, and thus “D” in the title DANI.

    7. JANI (what)? Joint advocacy network initiative JANI is the son born to fulfill the rest of the mission that his father has given – DANI was evaluated as a successful model for sharing and advocacy: The goal: improve the effectiveness of DRR in Vietnam Objective: strengthen CBDRM implementation and advocacy through effective networking and joint initiatives

    10. 1. Better synergies/information sharing 1.4 Disaster tours (for experience sharing, relationship strengthening, human resource building)? 1.5 Good Practices and technical notes (leadership, human resources, means and logistics on the spot)? 1.6 Indigenous knowledge on DM and CC (linking local knowledge and scientific research)? 1.7 Joint innovative IEC materials (leaflets, brochures, articles, etc)?

    15. Management (how)? Centrally managed budget by CARE Work decentralized to partners in various packages (led by specific partner)? (work packages, costs, schedule, procurement, quality, risks)? Discussions in coordination meetings, emails, phones, face-to-face, etc.

    16. Anything special about JANI? It takes a horizontal approach, not a vertical approach: looking at what your neighbors are doing, can I share with them, can they join us, etc? ? a lot on sharing It has no specific project locations: unlike your projects where you work side by side with beneficiaries. ? it will be hard to measure impact on beneficiaries A developing approach to advocacy: consortium/network, not an individual approach ? is it a trend?

    17. Anything special about JANI? A developing approach to advocacy: consortium/network, not an individual approach ? is it a trend? JANI, and now the Recent Emergency capacity building project.

    18. So what can you contribute to/benefit from JANI? Sharing information: do share with us information on tools, techniques, best practices on CBDRM, and visit our website to get interesting information Join with us in different workshops, trainings and awareness raising activities Support us in getting the CBDRM institutionalised in the Gov legal documents, legislations, policies.
