Committee Design Goals (4/18/2013) • Distinctive appearance so that bridge remains a symbol • Stay within budget: “German Simple” • Recognize views to bridge from downtown/riverfront • Maintain views to downtown from the bridge • Keep design subtle; historic feel with minimal detailing • Light pedestrian/ bicycle trail but not entire roadway; • Lighting should enhance structure, not draw attention to itself.
