  2. W.D. Wetherell • He was born in 1948, in a small town in NY. • By the time he was ten years old he was interested in writing. • He Wrote his first short story on the ping pong table in his parents basement at the age of 19. • To this day Wethrell loves to fish and often writes about fishing.

  3. Vocab • Pensive adj. thinking deeply • Bob was pensive when the game was over. • Dubious adj. feeling doubt • I was dubious when the runner was called safe. • Surreptitiously adv. Secretly or slyly • I surreptitiously spied on my mom as she slept. • Inhibition n. a restraint on ones natural impulses. • An inhibition prevented Bob from cheating on the test. • Lithe adj. limber bend easily. • Your mom was limber last night at the GYM.

  4. Theme • The Theme of the story is a boy who likes a girl but this girl comes between the boys favorite things to do witch is fishing.

  5. Plot • Characters: The Boy, Sheila Mant, the bass, Eric Caswell. • Setting: Summer, a river • Theme: Boy likes a girl • Basic situation: The boy wants to date Sheila Mant. • Internal conflict: Asking Sheila out, if he should reel in the fish or not.
