  2. Overview • The seismology in the ROA: brief history. • The Short Period Telemetric Network. • The Broad Band seismic network: Western Mediterranean (WM). • The ROA/UCM FOMAR OBS pool.

  3. THE SEISMOLOGY IN THE ROA: brief history. ROA was founded in 1753: Astronomy & navigation. 1898: Milne Nº. 6 Horizontal Pendulum (1st Spanish Seismograph). 1912: Two bifilar horizontal Graiño Seismograph and one vertical (1922). 1933: 3C Alfani type. 1966: 3C Spreghnether (IGN) . 1970: Benioff (1 sec). 1976: 3C 5100 type Spreghnether (ROA).

  4. THE SHORT PERIOD TELESEISMIC NETWORK 1986 Strait net (ROA+IGN+SECEG) complemented by ROA SP net. Goal: local seismicity around the Gibraltar Strait (Tunnel/Bridge). 9 Stations: Mark L4 sensor (1Hz). Analog data transmission (radio UHF/VHF). Digital conversion and storage at ROA data centre. Now a days stopped. NEAR FUTURE (<2020): Digital stations, short period response will be extended, digital TX. ARRAY?
