  5. Aggregate Pool An aggregate pool of smaller arrays Bunch of little guys add up to BIG results 5 x 20 = 100 Residential Arrays up to 10 kW get rebates 10 x 100 = 1000 or 1 MegaWatt

  8. RECs Renewable Energy Credits Utilities are Required to Buy Them NH State Law says the Utilities MUST show that 25% of the Energy they provide comes from Renewables by 2025 “25 x 25” is the slogan. The program will run until 2025

  9. Sale of RECs Sold at RGGI Auction RGGI – Renewable Greenhouse Gas Initiative – a coalition of 11 states. NH is one Aggregation of the RECs give the “little guy” visibility at the RGGI auction

  10. WHY Should I Sign Up? RECs are income IN ADDITION to whatever credit you get from the utility from NET METERING RECs are NOT Net Meter Credit Size does matter. A minimum system size of 3.5 kW makes it worthwhile

Then WHY Should I Sign Up? • PSNH and the rest have been lying (SURPRIZED ??) • They convinced lawmakers: • Solar DOESN’T WORK in NH • We know differently (from previous slides) • There are not enough RECs for them to comply • Reduce the value of the RECs to a paltry $50 • Reduce the Alternative Compliance Payment (ACP) to ? • You guessed it: $50

  12. WHY Should I Sign Up? • The more people in the pools, the more RECs will be available • The RECs are Public Knowledge • Must be reported to NEPOOL-GIS National Database and the NHPUC

  13. WHY Should I Sign Up? • We can expose their lies • We can assert political pressure to: • Get a reasonable value for the RECs • The same SREC in MA is worth $250 • Remember this number • Put some sting back into the ACP

  14. How Much Can I Make? Let’s assume a 10 kW array Array will ANNUALLY produce approx. 12 RECs Assume RECs are $50 12 x 50 = $600 EAU’S (MY FEE) = $60ANNUAL from previous slide BOTTOM LINE TO YOU: $600 - $60 = $540 (minus any broker fees (varies)

  15. How Do I Sign Up? • Most Brokers will do all the necessary paperwork • You hire EAU as your independent monitor • We are REQUIRED by the PUC to do an initial site visit • One-time fee of $100 • You sit back and wait for the check

  16. How Do I Sign Up? One shining example of one client in a pool: Seasonal Working Farm (A Commercial Client) Closes after Hallowe’en Hayrides Shuts down LAST WINTER, the array generated enough NET meter credit, the farm operated this season for ZERO AND HE’S LOOKING AT A CHECK FROM US FOR $1800 !

  17. Final Reality Check This sounds too good to be true !! Paul was an Engineer for 30 Years. He doesn’t “do” fantasy The pieces have been two years in the coming Patriotic, sensible things are usually the simplest
