    1. Adaptations of the Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse Student Name

    2. APPEARANCE I have light brown fur that matches the plants and undergrowth. I have small ears that hear well. I have a long tail.

    3. Food Source I mainly eat pickleweed.

    4. Avoiding Predators I gather my food early in the morning & late in the afternoon. I use my small ears to listen for predators. I hide when I’m in danger. My fur blends in with my surroundings.

    5. Home I make a nest in the dry grass. In the Marsh I build my nest away from the water.

    6. Raising young Since I am a mammal I have live young. My babies are born pink with little fur. My babies stay in the nest until they are big enough to learn to gather food.

    7. Interesting Facts I am an endangered species because my food source is shrinking. I mainly eat pickleweed and housing built on wetlands has reduced my food source.

    8. What else could I do to adapt to the Marsh environment to be more successful?
