  1. 9 Steps Approach to Replace Your Rubber Tracks To minimize the standstill of an earth-moving machine, like a mini-excavator, you must regularly check the rubber tracks for telltale wear signs. That way, you will know when to get new rubber tracks for mini excavator. Once the tracks are delivered, you can replace them to maximize your machine's efficiency. However, ensure that the installation is carried out correctly. Otherwise, you can risk damage to the mini excavator. This guide discusses nine steps to install rubber tracks flawlessly. Be Well-Prepared For a smooth rubber track replacement process, make sure to prepare well. You should have plenty of workspace and ensure it's free from clutter and obstacles. In addition, wear adequate personal protective equipment and get the necessary tools, including a machine's manual, sockets, a metal bar, grease, a torque wrench, etc.

  2. Lift the Machine Before installing the new rubber tracks for mini excavator, you need to remove the old ones. To remove the worn-out tracks, lift the mini excavator with a blade and lower the blade until the track's front part is off the ground. Next, turn the machine's arm towards the back and push down until the tracks are off the ground. Empty the Grease Cylinder Emptying the grease cylinder will reduce the tracks' tension. You can access the grease cylinder using the inspection hatch on the undercarriage. Usually, the idler can automatically move into the undercarriage as grease squeezes out. But if the idler gets stuck, you can empty the grease cylinder by placing a wooden block between the track and the sprocket. Remove the Old Track You can easily remove the old tracks once the idler is pulled inside the machine's undercarriage. First, lift the rubber track off the idler and slightly tilt it to remove it from the sprocket. Lastly, move the track out of the way using a forklift. Inspect the Undercarriage Inspect the undercarriage parts when a track is removed and look for the tellable wear and tear signs. If any part is damaged, replace it to avoid damage to the machine. Replace the Sprocket When you search for rubber tracks for sale, also look for new sprockets. The tracks and sprockets work and wear out together. So, if one is damaged, the other is too. If you don't replace the sprockets, your new rubber tracks will wear out much faster. \So, clean the contact surfaces on the drive motor, install the new sprocket, and tighten them with a torque wrench.

  3. Install the New Rubber Tracks For Mini Excavator Before installing the new rubber tracks of a mini excavator: ● Check whether they are positioned correctly. ● Place the new track on the machine's sprocket when it is in the correct position. ● Ask your helper to pull the other side over the idler. ● Use a metal bar to lift the hanging rubber tracks over the undercarriage's frame. ● Make sure the sprocket's teeth run between the tracks' links. Refill the Grease Cylinder After installing new tracks, re-tension them by adding grease to the grease cylinder. It will push out the idler and tighten the rubber tracks. Additionally, see to it that the tracks are not too loose or tight to prevent them from wearing out too soon. Check the New Tracks Once done with the installation process, move the tracks forward and backward to ensure undercarriage parts and rubber tracks are correctly installed. In addition, recheck the tracks' tension and adjust it if required. Finally, tightly secure the inspection hatch, and you are done with the track installation. Concluding Words Following these steps will be helpful when you think of replacing the rubber tracks. However, not all rubber tracks are ideal for all mini excavators. Finding the right size and type tracks according to your machine's make and model is necessary for maximum efficiency. So, it's best to look for a reliable replacement track dealer to find the correct rubber tracks for sale.
