  2. Vocabulary – Run-ons and Comma Splices • These are the vocabulary words for this lesson. • Read through carefully and print out if possible.  • Don't be overwhelmed.   • The information will be repeated throughout the module, and there will be practice exercises.

  3. Vocabulary – Run-ons and Comma Splices • run-on - a sentence that does not have full stop punctuation at the end • fused run-on - two sentences without any punctuation between them • comma splice run-on - two sentences with a comma between them

  4. Vocabulary – Run-ons and Comma Splices • period - a punctuation mark ( . ) to indicate the end of a declaratory sentence • semicolon - a punctuation mark ( ; ) which may be used to separate two short sentences which are so closely related they seem to belong in one sentence

Vocabulary – Run-ons and Comma Splices • coordinating conjunction - a group of conjunctions that are used to join two independent clauses (word groups that can stand alone as sentences) of equal value: FANBOYS - for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so • subordinating conjunction - a type of conjunctions that joins a clause of lesser weight to a main clause in a sentence: if though since, although as, because before, when while (ITS AA BB WW).
