  3. Could You Do That Too?

  4. Sheldon Alan "Shel" Silverstein was an American poet, songwriter, musician, composer, cartoonist, screenwriter and author of children's books.

  5. Silverstein said he never studied the poetry of others, and therefore developed his own style: laid-back and conversational, occasionally employing profanity and slang.

  6. We are going to learn a poem “Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me Too” adapted from the book “Where the Sidewalk Ends.” This poem was dubbed by Shel Silverstein himself!

  7. After that, please choose one poem that Shel Silverstein wrote and dub it.

  9. Admiring Shel Silverstein’s Books

  10. Shel Silverstein wrote a lot of great books such as…

  11. Now we are going to appreciate one of his book: “The missing piece.”

  12. Your assignment is to write down your thought after appreciating it.

  13. Beside of some animated pictures, most of the content adapted from the book.

  14. The missing piece

  15. It was missing a piece.  And it was not happy.

  16. So it set off in search of its missing piece. Git format pic::http://digitalarts.ucsd.edu/archives/va40w00/~va40wdq/project2/default.htm

  17. And as it rolled it sang this song-"Oh I'm lookin' for my missin' piece I'm lookin' for my missin' piece Hi-dee-ho, here I go, Lookin' for my missin' piece."

  18. Sometimes it baked in the sun

  19. but then the cool rain would come down.

  20. And sometimes it was frozen by the snow but then the sun would come and warm it again.

  21. And because it was missing a piece it could not very fast so it would stop to talk to a worm

  22. or smell a flower

  23. and sometimes it would pass a beetle

  24. and sometimes the beetle would pass it

  25. and this was the best time of all.

  26. And on it went, over oceans "On I'm lookin' for my missin' piece      Over land and over seas      So grease my knees and fleece my bees      I'm lookin' for my missin' piece."

  27. through swamps and jungles

  28. up mountains

  29. and down mountains

  30. Until one day, lo and behold! “ I've found my missin' piece," it sang,      "I've found my missin' piece      So grease my knees and fleece my bees      I've found my..." "Wait a minute," said the piece.  "Before you go greasing your knees  and fleecing your bees..."

  31. I am not your missing piece.   I am nobody's piece.I am my own piece. And even if I was somebody's missing pieceI don't think I'd be yours!"

  32. "Oh," it said sadly,  "I'm sorry to have bothered you."  And rolled on.

  33.   It found another piece

  34. but this one was too small.

  35. And this one was too big

  36. this one too sharp

  37. and this one too square.

  38. One time it seemed to have found the perfect piece but it didn't hold it tightly enough

  39. and lost it.

  40. Another time it held too tightly

  41. and broke.

  42.   So on and on it rolled,

  43. having adventures

  44. falling into holes

  45. and bumping into stone walls.

  46. And one day it came upon another piece that seemed to be just right.

  47. "Hi," it said.  "Hi," said the piece.  "Are you anybody else's missing piece?"  "Not that I know of."  "Well, maybe you want to be your own piece?"  "I can be someone's and still be mine."  "Well, maybe you don't want to be mine."  "Maybe I do."  "Maybe we won't fit...."  "Well..."

  48. "Hummm?"  "Ummmm!"

  49. It fit!It fit perfectly! At last! At last!

  50. And away it rolledand because it was now complete,it rolled faster and faster.Faster than it had ever rolled before! So fast that it could not stop to talk to a worm
