  1. Week beginning Monday 26th November 2018

  2. Wednesday 28thNovember 2018 Meditatio (Meditation) In the meditation phase of lectiodivina, we ask, what does this text say to me, today, and to my life? We allow God to pull up certain memories of people, places, and events in our lives that relate to the passage we are reading. Meditation is also an opportunity to see ourselves in the text. We can consider our own feelings as if we were a participant in the text or try to understand what it would be like to be one of the people represented in the text. In this way we come to a deeper appreciation of how God is working in our lives through the sacred word. Having entered into the story ourselves, we can return to the present and consider the areas in our own lives that God is calling us to contemplate.

  3. Remain faithful Mark 13:33-37 33 Be on watch, be alert, for you do not know when the time will come. It will be like a man who goes away from home on a trip and leaves his servants in charge, after giving to each one his own work to do and after telling the doorkeeper to keep watch. Watch, then, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming—it might be in the evening or at midnight or before dawn or at sunrise. If he comes suddenly, he must not find you asleep. What I say to you, then, I say to all: Watch!” • MEDITATIO: • What is the main message of today’s parable? Is it that Jesus expects to find us doing the work he asked us to do when he returns? n In the parable each of the servants had been given ‘his own work to do’ (verse 34). • What ‘work’ has Jesus given to all Christians to do? What things has he given you to do personally? • Consider what can happen when debating with other Christians about when Jesus will return. Compare this to our responsibility towards our fellow servants in Jesus’ parable. Which is more constructive? • Mark 13 reminds us this world will one day come to an end. Are we spending too much time investing in temporary things?

  4. Let Us Pray… Lord help me to remember that nothing is going to happen to me today that You and I together can’t handle. Amen.
