  5. Area 47 includes eight clusters of districts — the 100s through the 800s. 700s 800s 300s 100s 400s 200s 600s 500s

  6. Area 47 meets each month at Area Assembly in a different host district. 700s 800s 300s 100s 400s 200s 600s 500s

  7. The Syracuse areaencompasses two clusters of districts — the 300s and 400s. 300s 400s

  8. The 300s are located mostly west of Interstate-81, while the 400s are mostly east of it — mostly. 300s 400s

  9. The groups are the custodians of Alcoholics Anonymous and have been entrusted with its long-term survival.

  10. Groups elect a GSR, a General Service Representative, to carry the group’s informed conscience to the District and the Area.

  11. DCMs, District Committee Members, meet with GSRs at district meetings. DCMs serve the groups by relaying information to and from the Area Delegate.

  12. Our Twelfth Step — carrying the message — is the basic service that the AA Fellowship gives us; this is our principal aim and the main reason for our existence. — THE AA SERVICE MANUAL, p. S1

  13. There are currently three District level meetings in the Syracuse area — The Syracuse GSR Workshop Meeting The District 340 Meeting The District 490 Meeting

Syracuse and surrounding communities are also served by the Syracuse Area Intergroup • Local meeting lists • Local Service Center on James St. • Monthly meeting and newsletter for group secretaries and/or Intergroup Representatives • Local service committees: Corrections, Grapevine, Public Information/Cooperation with the Professional Community…

  15. If a group is listed in the Syracuse Area Meeting Schedule but hasn’t provided the Area 47 Registrar or the General Service Office with the Group’s basic contact information, it is a “meeting” not an AA Group. +

  40. The Syracuse GSR Workshop serves the groups and the districts in the 300s and 400s clusters —

  41. by holding amonthly“district”level meeting, where GSRs and DCMs share experience and information

  42. nbyhosting Days of Sharing lto improve understanding of AA general service lto strengthen group unity and effectiveness lto demonstrate how service committees extend AA’sability to reach alcoholics in ourcommunities, in hospitals and treatments centers, and in jails and courtrooms

  43. nby hosting Area Assembly twice a year — lGSRs, DCMs, Service Committees, Area Officers and the Area 47 Delegate meet to learn from each other; to arrive at an informed conscience; and to prepare our delegate for the annual General Service Conference

  44. nand by providing literature, support, and guidance to groups and districts l AA Service Manuals l Pamphlets l Reimbursement for travel to Area Assemblies l And occasionally copies of,Alcoholics Anonymous and Language of the Heartfor group use

  45. In the fall of 2016 the groups in District 0340 elected a DCM.

  46. In May 2017 District 0340 began holding a monthly district meeting —

  47. 6:45 pm at Serenity Hall in Baldwinsville, the last Monday of the month. All are welcome.

  48. The monthly District 0340 Meeting lprovides groups regular access to their DCM l keeps groups informed about matters affecting AA as a whole.

  49. District 0340 also lhas service committees to carry the AA message in our communities lpublishes a newsletter with information about activities in the district and the area

  50. The district has threeservice committees: l Public Information lTreatment lArea Assembly Host Committee
