High School Facilities Issues • Same as previous slide • Replace lights and sound systems in the Auditorium • Replace gym bleachers • Replace pool filter system • Replace dust collector in wood shop • Replace windows at the pool • A larger cafeteria is needed • A larger competitive gym • Replace interior and exterior doors • Renovate restrooms

Recommendations • Renovate the High School, based on Facilities Issues and Curriculum needs. • Complete work at three of the Elementary Schools and Paxon Hollow, based on Facilities Issues and Curriculum needs. • Demolish the Gauntlett Center and replace it with a new Elementary School. • Move the Gauntlett Center functions to the fourth Elementary School, that school’s population will move into the new Elementary School. • Replace and repair roofs throughout the District. • Repair parking lots as needed, following major work.

  7. HOW TO PROCEED WITH RECOMMENDATIONS The following eighteen slides are a recommended “LONG RANGE FACILITIES PLAN” that chronologically describes how to remedy the facilities issues by implementing the previous slide’s recommendations. This plan begins the Fall of 2007 and is completed the Fall of 2014.

  8. FALL 2007 • Complete the Security Upgrades. • Hire a Consultant to develop a five year roof renovation plan. • Interview Architects for the High School renovation project. • Interview Architects for the demolition of the Gauntlett Center and the construction of a new Elementary School.

WINTER 07-08 • Complete the locker room renovations. • Hire an Architect to begin planning and bid specifications for the High School renovation. • Hire an Architect to begin the planning and bid specifications for the demolition of Gauntlett Center and the construction of a new Elementary School. • Hire an Architect to develop the bid specifications, based on Facilities Issues, for one of the Elementary Schools. • Begin the Bid process for the first phase of the roof renovation project. • Inform tenants that the Gauntlett Center will be closed & demolition will start the winter of 2008-09

SPRING 2008 • Award the contracts for the first Elementary School project. • Award the contract for the first phase of roof renovations. • Begin planning for a temporary location of the District Operations that are currently located at the Gauntlett Center. • Interview construction management firms for the demolition of the Gauntlett Center and the construction of a new Elementary School.

  11. SUMMER-FALL2008 • Complete the work at the first Elementary School. • Complete the first phase of the roof renovation project. • Hire a construction management firm for the demolition of the Gauntlett Center and the construction of a new Elementary School.

  12. FALL 2008 • Move District Operations from the Gauntlett Center to a temporary location. • Award contracts for the demolition of the Gauntlett Center and the construction of a new Elementary School.

WINTER 08-09 • Begin the Gauntlett Center/New Elementary School Project • Hire an Architect to develop the bid specifications, based on Facilities Issues, for the second Elementary School. • Begin the Bid process for the second phase of the roof renovation project. • Interview construction management firms for the High School renovation project.

  16. WINTER 09-10 • Hire an Architect to develop the bid specifications, based on Facilities Issues, for the third Elementary School. • Begin the Bid process for the third phase of the roof renovation project.

  17. SPRING 2010 • Award the contracts for the third Elementary School project. • Award the contract for the third phase of roof renovations. • Hire an Architect to develop bid specifications for minor renovations at the vacated Elementary School.

  18. SUMMER-FALL 2010 • Complete the work at the third Elementary School. • Complete the third phase of the roof renovation project. • Complete the demolition of Gauntlett Center and the construction of a new Elementary School. • Award the contracts for the minor renovation at the vacated Elementary School.

  19. WINTER 10-11 • Begin the Bid process for the fourth phase of the roof renovation project. • Hire an Architect to develop the bid specifications, based on Facilities Issues, for the Paxon Hollow Middle School.

  20. SPRING 2011 • Award the contract for the fourth phase of roof renovations. • Complete minor renovations to the vacated Elementary School. • Move District Operations into the vacated Elementary School.

  21. SUMMER-FALL 2011 • Complete the fourth phase of the roof renovation project. • Complete the High School Renovation Project.

  22. WINTER 11-12 • Begin the Bid process for the final phase of the roof renovation project. • Interview construction management firms for the Paxon Hollow Middle School project.

  23. SPRING 2012 • Award the contract for the final phase of roof renovations. • Hire a construction management firm for the Paxon Hollow Middle School project.

  24. SUMMER-FALL 2012 • Complete the final phase of the roof renovation project. • Award the contracts for the Paxon Hollow Middle School project.

  25. SUMMER-FALL 2014 • Complete the Paxon Hollow Middle School Project
