Present Activities – Belle II R&DOrigami Chip-on-Sensor Concept • Thinned readout chips (APV25) on sensor • Strips of bottom side are connected by flex fanouts wrapped around the edge • All readout chips are aligned  single cooling pipe • Shortest possible connections  high signal-to-noise ratio top view ~60cm Ladder configuration side view Markus Friedl

  11. Present Activities – Belle II R&D • Full readout chain to DAQ • To be designed and built by HEPHY • Prototypes exist for all stages Origami module FADC+PROC VME Repeater box Data processing and hit time finding (~3ns RMS) in FPGA firmware Markus Friedl

Future Plans • Belle II • Production of full silicon tracker (together with semiconductor group) and its complete readout chain • CMS • Trigger: Development of Global Trigger for CMS upgrade • Tracker: Upgrade of Pixel-FED, stacked modules for L1 track trigger • Outreach • New, improved spark chamber for our exhibitions • Generic (motivated by Belle II and CMS) • Fast serial links • FPGA design & simulation, embedded programming Markus Friedl
