  3. ORIENTATION AND MOBILITY Orientation and Mobility are two critical areas that must be mastered by the visually impaired person before he or she can be a full participating member of the community. “ORIENTATION AND MOBILITY TRAINING”

ORIENTATION AND MOBILITY Orientation refers to the process of utilizing the remaining senses in establishing one’s position and relationship to all other significant objects in one’s environment, while Mobility denotes the ability to move physically from one position to a desired location or place. “ORIENTATION AND MOBILITY TRAINING”

  5. ORIENTATION AND MOBILITY Safe mobility is most often achieved with the help of a especially designed tool, the mobility cane, but one has to be trained in its use. To be able to use this cane will, time consuming one to one training is necessary. “ORIENTATION AND MOBILITY TRAINING”

Wrist movement – bend the wrist when you swing the cane (fulcrum) • Do not twist your body • Do not swing your whole arm • Do not roll your hand 4.
