  2. OPENING SENTENCE Return to your God, hold fast to love and justice, and wait continually for him. Hosea 12.6 John

  3. Opening Prayer Let us pray: Speak tenderly to us this evening, O God, speak tenderly in the words of Scripture, in the stillness of our hearts, and in the quiet of this place, for it is in these utterings of love that what is torn in us may be healed, and what is broken between us may be made whole again. O Holy One at the heart of life, if we choose not t0 uncover our inner selves to you, where else shall we turn in hope, for there are wildernesses within, parched places between and all around us that only your life-giving springs can touch. And so it is to you, O God, that we call; not only with our lips but with our hearts’ desires, Holy God, holy and mighty Holy and immortal, have mercy on us John

  4. CANTICLE: A SONG OF NEW BEGINNINGS I will heal their disloyalty; I will love them freely, says the Lord, for my anger has turned from them. I will be like the dew to Israel; he shall blossom like the lily, he shall strike root like a great forest. They shall again live beneath my shadow, they shall flourish like a garden. They shall blossom like the vine, their fragrance shall be like the wine of Lebanon. John

  5. Ruth 4:11-17  Then the elders and all those at the gate said, "We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who is coming into your home like Rachel and Leah, who together built up the house of Israel. May you have standing in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem. 12 Through the offspring the Lord gives you by this young woman, may your family be like that of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah." So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. Then he went to her, and the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. 14 The women said to Naomi: "Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a kinsman-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! 15 He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth." 16 Then Naomi took the child, laid him in her lap and cared for him. 17 The women living there said, "Naomi has a son." And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David. Helen

  6. Psalm 113 1 Praise the Lord, O sing praises, you that are his servants: O praise the name of the Lord. 2 Let the name of the Lord be blessed: from this time forward and for ever. 3 From the rising of the sun to its going down: let the name of the Lord be praised. 4 The Lord is exalted over all the nations: and his glory is above the heavens. 5 Who can be likened to the Lord our God: in heaven or upon the earth, Helen

  7. Psalm 113 6 Who has his dwelling so high: yet condescends to look on things beneath? 7 He raises the lowly from the dust: and lifts the poor from out of the dungheap; 8 He gives them a place among the princes: even among the princes of his people. 9 He causes the barren woman to keep house: and makes her a joyful mother of children. Praise the Lord. Helen

  8. Mary Visits ElizabethLuke 1:39-45 In those days Mary set out and went with haste to a Judean town in the hill country,  where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit  and exclaimed with a loud cry, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And why has this happened to me, that the mother of my Lord comes to me?  For as soon as I heard the sound of your greeting, the child in my womb leaped for joy.  And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillmentof what was spoken to her by the Lord." 10. Blessed are those who say “yes” to God • Reflect on what it has meant to say yes to God in becoming an OLM • What it means to say yes to be here • What is God asking you to say yes to now John

  11. PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND INTERCESSION Blessed are you, O God, giver of all that grows from the ground, maker of every creature that flies in the air and every life form that swarms the seas. Blessed are you, ever creating in the heights and depths, for riches beneath the earth’s surface, and the thoughts and creativities that wait within us to be brought to light, John

  12. for the expanding universe above and all around, and the imagination ever opening, for ocean depths still to be explored, and the treasures of the unconscious that well up from within us. ln all of this, O God, we wonder at the limitless unfolding of your gift of life. And yet we know also within and among us the contractions of death and disease, and as lands go barren and creatures perish, so men and women and whole communities are broken in body and soul. It is these concerns that we bring in prayer before you, O God, yearning for the day you have promised, of peace between heaven and earth and between earth and all her people. John

  13. 1. My soul is filled with joyas I sing to God my savior:you have looked upon your servant, you have visited your people.RefrainAnd holy is your name through all generations!Everlasting is your mercy to the people you have chosen, and holy is your name.2. I am lowly as a child, but I know from this day forwardthat my name will be remembered, for all will call me blessed.3. In your love you now fulfillwhat you promised to your people.I will praise you, Lord, my savior, everlasting is your mercy. Helen

  14. Canticle: A song of rejoicing Alleluia. Salvation and glory and power belong to God, for his judgements are true and just. Praise him, all you servants of the Lord, You who fear him, both great and small. Alleluia, for the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them as their God, and they will be his people. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, for death will be no more. Mourning and crying and pain will be no more. Amen. Alleluia. Revelation 19-21 Helen

  15. CLOSING PRAYER Not only in moments of prayer, O God, but in the ordinary hours of our days, may seeds of your Spirit come to life within the soil of our lives. From heaven, rain down your life-giving waters that we may be vibrant in love and faithfulness, and that between us and among us as people and nations, we may reap the fruits of justice and kindness together. BENEDlCTlON By the tender mercy of our God, may the dawn from on high break upon you May he give light when you sit in darkness and in the shadow of death And may he guide your feet into the way of peace.
