  1. Brilliant United Go Top Of The Premier League by David on August 28, 2011 The speed, mobility and class of United tore Arsenal to shreds today, thrashing the Gunners 8-2. Fergie went with the same side that ripped Spurs apart in the second half on Monday and Danny Welbeck set United on their way to victory, with his second goal in a week.Anderson put in a terrific lobbed pass over the Arsenal defence and Welbeck held off the challenges of Djourou and Koscielny to head the ball home. Arsenal had a chance to get back in the game when Howard Webb awarded a soft penalty for Evans’s tug on Walcott. But David De Gea made a great save, diving low to his right to keep out Van Persie’s spot-kick. The importance of the save was illustrated a minute later when Ashley Young hit a brilliant 20 yard curler into the top corner. Stunning goal, that was bettered when Rooney beat Szczesny with a free-kick from outside the penalty box. In the second half United continued to put on a show with Rooney scored from another free-kick, then Nani scored with a sublime chip to make it 5-1. Park Ji-sung scored a sixth on 70 minutes. Rooney then got his hat-trick after Hernandez was pulled down and then Young sent United top of the Premier League with another shot into the roof of the net. Overall a brilliant United position. As I have been saying for the last month, the speed and mobility of Nani, Cleverly, Anderson and Young allow United to play at a pace that other teams cannot handle. http://www.manchesterunitedfanclub.co.uk/brilliant-united-go-top-of-the-premier-league/

  2. http://arsenal-mania.com/articles/reports Well, it just was meant to be, wasn't it? A victory against Manchester United is welcome in any form at any time. But this is just way too teasing, isn't it? Bittersweet takes a whole new meaning here. With my brother sat next to me watching pensively on as the United pressure came to the boil in the dying moments, I told him that those Arsenal boys have done themselves and their great Club and supporters proud for once, and that each and every one of them would be exempt from blame had United equalised. Fight, bite, grit, strength and confidence on the ball against the champions-elect in what was essentially a dead rubber of a contest. Even the likes of subs AndreyArshavin and Emmanuel Eboué looked interested and with half a brain on them for once, the Russian making not one, nor two, but three tackles in obstructing potential United counterattacks! Even CescFàbregas' last minute pre-match withdrawal, the latest in the wheel of misfortune, failed to dampen the spirit or, crucially, to lessen the performance. Alex Song sitting deep, turned in arguably the best midfield performance of 2011?! For now, we can celebrate victory, a very hollow one mind, in the knowledge that whoever it is that triumphs on May 22nd, it won't, sadly, be Arsenal.
