  3. How to access the internet? • In order to access the internet you must have a computer and access to either a: • Modem • Phone outlet • Cable/ T3 / DSL

  4. What is www? • A collection of commerce educational and personal websites that contains electronic pages of text and graphics

  5. What you can do with the internet? • Used for • Shopping • Making payments • Researching • Looking for jobs

Since the internet, nobody can live without the internet because of its high-speed quality and its availability to things that people need in order to entertain or help themselves and others • Research papers in school • Maintain their financial living • Communicate with people across the country

  7. Why is the internet needed? • Some jobs requires knowledge of the internet • Locate temporary/ permanent jobs by looking at maps • School research papers and need further research on the internet It is a benefit for anyone who learns how to use a computer and access the internet

How to set up the computer with the internet • Be able to connect the telephone line to the modem • Telephone line allows the internet to connect with the server • Internet service provides monthly membership fees • Providers: AOL, Earthlink, Yahoo, Netzero, SBC • Establish a user ID and password for privacy

  9. Internet with search engines • Search engines can help people search for information that they are looking for • Find information on any sources for logical purposes
