Dear fellow Telugu brothers and sisters, while we celebrate AP formation day, let us also see few truths what AP left for some of her children Below are few evidences to prove that there has been organized discrimination on one region and there were poly’tricks’ involved to plunder the natural resources of the region. Discrimination in Culture & Identity • Telangana history and literature has been downplayed in AP history. • Telangana liberation day (17th Sept, 1948) and people fought for Telangana liberation were not honored • Low opinion: an essential ingredient for all discriminations • Stereotyping of Telangana language, culture and habits. • More than 25,000 movies show Telangana people as villains, clowns, or workers, never a protagonist Telangana Development Forum-USA

Discrimination in Irrigation • Negligence of irrigation projects in Telangana • Abandoned & scaled-down proposed projects in erstwhile Hyderabad State after merger • Upper Krishna, Thungabhara, Bhima, Lower Penuganga, Godavari Multi-Purpose, Ichampalli, & Devanur • Till 1965, no major irrigation projects were taken up in Telangana in order to divert surplus funds to Andhra projects • Flourosis affected areas of Nalgonda have been denied irrigation and drinking water supply • Complete neglect and meager fund allocation for minor and medium irrigation projects - the dominant mode of irrigation in Telangana areas. Irrigated acreage came down from 12 lakhs in 1951 to 3 lakh in 2001. • The BachawatTribunalin its report categorically mentioned that “Had there been no division of the State (Hyderabad), there were better chances for the residents of this area to get irrigation facilities”. Discrimination in Employment • Telangana people lost near about 2.5 lakhs public employment opportunities during the 53 years of combined State when the domicile rules, called Mulki Rules, were flouted • 1956-1968: 22,000 in violation of Mulki Rules • 1975-1985: 58,962 in violation of Presidential Order 1975 • Telangana is marginalized in public and private employment • Due to insignificant representation in the Secretariat and discrimination by Heads of Departments, injustice is meted out to Telangana in all development programs • Most of the private industries in Telangana are run by Seemandhra people and they continuously hire and promote their kith and kin over local population • Out of 4.98 lakhs working in Telangana about 40% are from Andhra Region, nearly 1.99 lakhs in violation of Presidential Order • In Andhra Region, out of 6.80 lakh workers, not even 1% employees are from Telangana. • Whenever the violations were taken to the notice of the state government, it was not serious about rectification of such violations but went on with strategy of delay by appointing series of committees Telangana Development Forum-USA

Discrimination in Power Generation • List of projects identified but not taken up in Telangana • At Kuntala, Pranahita, Icchampally, Singareddy, Dindi, Shankarpalli, Karimnagartotaling 4617 MW • List of projects taken up and completed in Seemandhra • Vizayawada (1,2,3), Rayalaseema (1, 2), Vijjeswaram (1,2), NTPC (Simhadri, TalcherKaniha), NLC, Madras, Kaiga, Jegurupadu, Kakinada, Kondapalli, Peddapuram, Vemagiri, Gautami, Konaseematotaling 4666 MW • Examples of neglected projects in Telangana: • Installation of EHV Substations and Transmission lines in Mahbubnagar (Palamoor) for Lift Irrigation schemes received only 16.47 Crores out of total planned 159.72 Crores • To give waters to Seemandhra, Srisailam water is not allowed to generate power during Nov-Jan imposing unofficial power cuts in Telangana, thereby depriving farmers of Telangana region to irrigate their crops who depend on bore wells. Telangana Struggle is a Democratic Movement • Telangana backwardness is because of discrimination and regional biases in decision making, not because of lack of natural resources, geographical conditions or historical background. • So today, Telangana people are not asking for some backward region development package. We are demanding our rights for fair share. • Telangana struggle is not against people of any region. • It is a democratic and inclusive movement against discrimination and exploitation. And welcomes everyone, in the region and outside, to join and support the movement. • Please think, what difference the division makes to a common man!. Nothing!!. As we are in Bangalore and in Silicon valley, every one has right to live in Hyderabad too. • Yes, it does make difference to few people like one in below cartoon, as people like him can NOT continue the same in future!!.
