  7. Pathos • Describe how the Japanese man is depicted. Why is he holding his hands the way he is? • What will happen if YOU take the day off? • How does that make you feel? How will you change your actions as a result?

  8. Pathos • Who does the rat represent? How does that make you view that group of people? • Why Alaska? What is outlining the rat trap? • How should Alaskans behave/feel differently based on this?

  9. Pathos • How is the tone different in this piece of propaganda? • How does this image make you feel towards Hitler? • What is the purpose of this--what should citizens feel/think?

  15. Ethos . . . • There’s a reason why this water has this name! • What does it say on the bottle to make you trust this company?

  16. Ethos . . . • What about this image makes you believe you can trust Barack Obama? • How is he like you/your family? • Why are his sleeves rolled up?

  17. Ethos . . . • What makes you trust this organization? • Why would you be tempted to donate . . . to buy a bracelet? • Would you feel differently if Paris Hilton was in this ad instead of Bono?

  18. Ethos . . . • What words stand out? • How do these words make you feel about people who serve in the military? About the American military?
