About ShakeOut at Massey

Massey University encourages everyone to take part in this earthquake drill as a way of becoming better prepared to respond to an earthquake; however, participation is not compulsory.

If you are not comfortable taking part in this earthquake drill for any reason, you may choose not to, and may leave the room before the drill which take place at 9.26am.

Do you and your family or flatmates have a household emergency plan?

  • Do you have supply of emergency food and survival items?

  • Have you agreed on a place to meet if you couldn’t contact anyone by phone, email or other methods?

  • Have you agreed who would pick up your kids from school (if applicable)?

  • Do you have pets and have you considered how to look after them in an emergency?
