  3. CAFO Update Current CAFO Status • 144 Larges and 453 mediums • 5 mediums terminated in last month • Overdue Appendix D’s – due next week • 1 large • 33 mediums • 12 CNMPs overdue – all Mediums

  4. CAFO Update DEC Permit • Renewal in 2009 • Anticipated Timeline • CAFO Workgroup on August 13th • ENB on December 10th • Avoid lapse of coverage • 30 day public comment period Providing Comment on the Technical Components on Lg/Med Program

  5. TSP Training with NRCS Barnyard Walks Two scheduled for July – Montgomery and Wyoming Currently 20 people registered Facilitator and Consistency Cropware / Nutrient Management 1 held, 2 more planned Field walk for Runoff and leaching On hold Education & Support

  7. Certified AEM Planner Status • 45 Certified Planners – 2 net gain • 3 new – • Bill Gallinger, Cold Springs Agronomics • Bradley Schwab – ACS • Lenny Prezorski - NRCS • I retiree – • Art Hansen, WNYCMA • 31 active on CAFO • 37 active in some form of conservation planning

  8. 3-Plan Reviews and Quality Assurance Reviews 3-Plan Reviews • 7 individuals submitted plans for certification • 2 more achieved certification, the rest continue Quality Assurance Reviews • 13 planners currently in the QA reviews • 9 recertified • 2 to go • 9 certified via 3-Plan Reviews in last 2 years

  9. EFARM Update • 5-2-08 – Deficiency Budget Payment - $1 Million for Plan Development & Annual Updates – 05,06,07 • Paid out $550,000 to date • ~$315,000 in system now • ~$225,000 left to spend • ~112 Annual Updates

Future Plans for Specialists • Continue our pace of reviews, trainings, and support activities. • More hands-on training sessions to support classroom trainings. • Coordinate reviews with NRCS for consistency. • Work with planners, producers, and partner agencies to further clarify regulatory requirements.
