  20. American Toad (Bufo americanus) • Voice; breeding male has a high trill that lasts 6-30 seconds • Spots contain only 1-2 warts

  21. Green Tree Frog (Hyla cinerea) • Back is green, ranges from bright olive- lime green • have a cream colored stripe from the jaw to the groin • May have a small white or gold patch on back • Belly is white or pale yellow

  22. Spotted Salamander (Ambystomamaculatum) • Long & stout • Black- dark brown with 2 rows of yellow/orange spots from head to tail

  23. Marbled Salamander (Ambystomaopacum) • Short & stocky • Black with bands and spots • Markings range from white in males to gray in females

  24. Black Rat Snake (Elaphe obsoleta) • Completely black except for chin which is white • Hatchlings are grey with black blotches • Nonvenemous

  25. Red Rat Snake (Elaphe guttata) • Nonvenemous, tree climbers • Backs orange- brownish yellow in color • Have reddish blotches running down back • Belly’s have a black and white checkerboard pattern

  26. Eastern Box Turtle (Terrapenecarolina) • Can close it’s shell almost entirely • Male’s irises are red, female’s are brown • Shell is usually a brownish color with orange patterns

  27. Common Snapping Turtle (Chelydraserpentina) • Have powerful beak-like jaws and very mobile necks • Carapace is rigid • Weigh about 9.9-35 lbs

  28. Eastern Fence Lizard (Sceloporusundulatus) • Cross bars on back • Colors range from gray, brown to reddish brown • Males have blue patches on their throat and belly

  29. Green Anole (Anolis carolinensis) • Bright green with whitish gray belly • Can change from green to brown in a matter of seconds • Males have a red pouch on their throats

  30. Eastern King Snake (Lampropeltisgetula) • Black, blue black, or dark brown with white bands going around it • Eats snakes and other small animals • Nonvenemous

  31. Eastern Garter Snake (Thamnophissirtalis) • Coloration varies • Back and side stripes are usually yellow but can be brownish, greenish, or blueish • nonvenemous

  32. Copperhead (Agkistrodoncontortrix) • Venemous • Color ranges from copper to orange-pink • Has crossbands on back; usually reddish brown
