From Edmodo to www.kidblog.org, how can you use these two web tools to increase the “talking” of your students? • Edmodo, A Centralized Learning Station with Control and Fun Engagement • Daily, Weekly, or Bi-Weekly Check In • Depends on the Age Group • Available Resources • A way to “talk” about their day or any given topic via Blogging by moving through Edmodo Purpose

  7. Why? • Technology Inclusion • Attract the Video Generation • Address different learning styles • Transition into more of a paperless classroom • Move toward the Flip Classroom • When? • 1-2 times per week or bi-weekly • Where? • Classroom Computers (2) • Weekly trip to computer lab The 3 W’s

Set a Schedule for trips to the computer lab and rotation on the classroom computers • Be consistent AND start the first or second week of school • Student serves as a Computer Manager (SCM) • Assign a topic to be written first in their tablets or journals • Connect the content to the activities on Edmodo and the writing on the Blog • Give each day a theme (i.e. Relaxed Wednesday, Talkative Tuesday, Thinking Thursday, etc.) How?

Ask the Media Center Specialist to Co-Teach • Use your ETC (Educational Technology Specialist) or equivalent if available • Use a Form that helps logging in easier • Copy the form to place on a clipboard in alphabetical order by the classroom computers and the SCM takes it on lab visits • Send original form home with student stapled to the homework folder How?
