  1. THINGS GOD HATES PROVERBS 6:16-19

  2. God is a loving God full of mercy and grace. I John 4:8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. II Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, However there is another side of God. Hebrews 10:30-31 For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.'' And again, "The Lord will judge His people.'' It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

  3. Even though “God is love” there are things God hates. Sin Sin separates us from God. Sin stops us from becoming what God wants us to be. However in the book of Proverbs the wise man gives a particular list of sins that God hates. Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.

  4. A Proud Look God has never approved of pride. John says it is one of the three avenues to sin. I John 2:16 “The pride of life” Pride played a large role in the fall of man. Genesis 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a treedesirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

  5. God made Nebuchadnezzar act like a cow because of pride, Daniel 4. Jesus said if a person wants to follow Him he must rid himself of all pride. Luke 9:23 If anyone desires to come after Me, let him denyhimself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. Matthew 18:4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Proverbs 16:18-19 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

  6. James 4:6, 10 God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. I Peter 5:5-6 Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.'' Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. GOD HATES A PROUD LOOK!

  7. A Lying Tongue A lot of people think lying is a sin but not a bad sin. God will not punish us for telling little white lies. With God sin is sin. Lying is part of the old man. Colossians 3:9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, God does not condone lying as a matter of fact He hates it and will punish the liar. Revelation 21:8 "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.''

  8. Revelation 22:14-15 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. As Christians we should all strive to be more God-like in our daily living Hebrews 6:18 It is impossible for God to lie… Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began, GOD HATES A LYING TONGUE!

  9. Hands That Shed Innocent Blood We all know that murder is wrong and it is a sin and the murderer will be punished. Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. Paul tells us that murder is a work of the flesh and that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God, Galatians 5:19-21 IPeter 4:15-16 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people's matters. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.

  10. Jesus and John add interesting notes on this matter. I John 3:15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. Hate the sin Love the sinner. Matthew 5:21-22 You have heard that it was said to those of old, `You shall not murder,' and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment. But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. Ephesians 4:26-27 Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity. GOD HATES HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD!

  11. A Heart That Devises Wicked Plans We become what we think. Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. Jesus said that all wickedness starts in the heart. Mark 7:21-23 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.'' The Bible tells us that just the thought of sin is as bad as the act of sin.

  12. Some think they can hide their sinful thoughts. Sinful thoughts or sinful actions, you cannot hide from God. Psalms 94:11 The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are futile. Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good. Hebrews 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. GOD HATES A HEART THAT DEVISES WICKED PLANS!
