  3. Why Should You Visit Wichita? • Come see what a real ”Old West” Cowtown was like. Visit our Old Cowtown Museum. • Interested in aviation? We’re the air capitol of the world and make many of the world’s aircraft right here. You can tour the Aviation Museum and see the development of our aircraft companies and community at the Sedgwick County Historical Museum. • We have over 1000 restaurants. Want German food? We have it. Thai food? Got it! Anything you want, we have a taste of everything. • We have great shopping centers. Malls like Towne West andTowne East, and many small shopping outlets. • Entertainment galore. Opera, live theater, bowling, golf, bike paths, art, whatever you’re looking for we more than likely have it. • We also have many museums to suit your needs. There are over 30 different museums. Art, culture, and World Treasures.

  5. Need A Place To Stay?? • We have many hotels/motels to suit your taste. • The Hyatt is the number one hotel that tourists enjoy staying at. • There is also The Marriot, Hampton, Airport Hilton, and Best Western. • If you’re just looking for a place to rest for the night we even have Motel 6.

  6. You got to have the food! • Try the Olive Tree!!! A four star restaurant. • Want steak? Try Scotch & Sirloin. • Just in the mood for a good burger? Try Charlie's! • Sandwiches? We have Roly Poly Rolled Sandwiches and Blimpie Subs & Salads. • We have over 1000 restaurants, so you’re sure to find something you will enjoy.

  7. Why People Come To Wichita • The main reason is our heritage. People want to see real Cowtowns and real cowboys! • We have so much to offer. Whatever it is that you like you are likely to find in Wichita.

  8. Have an interest in animals? • Wichita has the 18th largest zoo in the U.S. • Include exhibits featuring apes and orangutans, gorillas, penguins, American farm animals, rain forest animals, and Australian animals. • Currently we are adding a tiger exhibit that will be open in 2009.

Historical Events & Famous People • Worlds first ever Pizza Hut was opened in Wichita, by Dan and Frank Carney, two college students. • A few famous people who came from Kansas: Kirstie Alley, George Washington Carver, William Clark, William Allen White, Amelia Earhart, and President Dwight D. Eisenhower. • Dockum Drugstore sit-in during the Civil Rights movement • Carrie Nation, the famousand original bar room smasher.

  11. Watson Park Watson Park has all kinds of stuff. It has Ponds, Hay Rack Rides, Miniature Golf, Pedal Boats Rides, Train Rides, and Pony Rides, and they have a yellow brick road. It is open at 8am to 4pm daily.

  12. Riverside Park Riverside Park is located 455 North Main. The hours are Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm. It has water that shoots up and you can play in it.

  13. Sedgwick County Park Has two play grounds, one play ground is being rebuilt right now, basketball court, tennis court, and a race car track. There are bike trails, ponds for fishing, and a big hill in the middle of the park. There’s a lot of events that happen there. This opens at 6am to 10pm daily.

  14. Orchard Park It has a skate park, swimming pool, tennis court, basketball court, and a play ground. It has no hours, you can go there whenever you want. If you want to play basketball or tennis in the dark they have lights for you.
