  7. Management of Knowledge • Reasons for investing in Knowledge Mgt • Meet growing demand by authorities • Rules for working safe and protecting environment • Resolve consequences of the ageing problem • loss of expertise and loss of flexibility • Improve plant performance • Shared consolidated knowledge versus individual expert knowledge • Improve competitive position W-Europe • Resolve changes in learning behaviour • Society finds it more difficult to concentrate: Zap culture WS_KM_Elsevier_Zwijndrecht

  8. Management of Knowledge • Reasons for standardizing plant information • Improves information quality and thus reliability • Supports meeting environment and safety demands • Reduces costs • Creates opportunities for innovation e.g. for Knowledge Mgt, it adds flexibility of communication • Examples: • Usage of dictionaries • Usage of complex product models • Best practice for hand-over between plant owner and EPC • Best practice for as-built information WS_KM_Elsevier_Zwijndrecht

  9. Opportunities, trends and developments • Combine “classical” knowledge mgt with results of standardisation over the past years: • Knowledge has been put in dictionaries and product models now representing the knowledge base of the assets • Future knowledge management will need to be flexible and modular to facilitate • Roll-out of the knowledge in corporates such as Shell, BASF, DSM. • Knowledge about e.g. a distillation unit and a catalytic cracking unit are very similar for various companies. • Roll out training of operators and maintenance staff • Full coverage of plant information including data, as-built, hand-over WS_KM_Elsevier_Zwijndrecht

  17. Convergentie kennis mgt in 5 – 10 jaar • Verbinding top-down en bottom-up aanpak • Top-down • Implement Kennis mgt systems – eenvoudige toegang tot informatie als een view op data en documenten • Bottom-up • Standaardisatie van Data – en documenten - Informatie – Kennis • Toepassen gemeenschappelijk woordenboek. • Toepassen common modules • Toepassen van best practices : • AsBuilt Top30 lijst van document types • Handover from EPC to operations and maintenance • Toepassen product kennis modellen zoals ICAAMC WS_KM_Elsevier_Zwijndrecht

  19. Voorgestelde project elementen • Toepassen Elsevier Kennis Mgt systeem • Toepassen woordenboek ISO15926-4 (termen, definities, hierarchie) • Start ontwikkeling van kennis modules voor bijv. Distillatie, kraken, waterzuivering, automatiserign, etc. • Zet raamwerk op voor toepassing van: • Reliability engineering • AsBuilt best practice, • Intelligent P&ID’s • Hand-over from EPC/EV to plant owner • Toegang tot kennisbank door operators via PDA • Mogelijkheden voor training • Operators en onderhouds staf o.a middels simuatie • Ontwikkeling materiaal voor excellente training cenytra van WCMC • Instellingen en bedrijven met interesse in deelname: • Stichting USPI, Elsevier • BASF Antwerpen, Volkerrail, Hogeschool Zeeland, Avans, ROC West-Brabant, • Deelnemers workshop 2 dec 08, Zwijndrecht • Croon TBI techniek • MCC WS_KM_Elsevier_Zwijndrecht
