  1. Rev. Yoshinobu Miyake to the INTERFAITH VILLAGE PROJECT: “BAYANIHAN PARA SA KAUNLARAN” … in Duck Raising

  2. Rev. Yoshinobu Miyake was met at the Dumaguete Airport by Dr. Bill Wale and his son Bengie, Angie Grapa and her family and Ophelia Ratunil. They had a short meeting at the airport Traveler’s Inn where they were briefed by Angie Grapa what to expect in the project site. Yoshinobu sensei presented to the group with materials about the recent G-8 meeting in Japan which he co-ordinated.

  3. The Project Site was located in Barangay Magatas in the Municipality of Sibulan, Province of Negros Oriental with “Church of Christ” as host church under the leadership of Pastor Gil Tenorio as Cell Leader. It was less than 30 minutes travel from the Dumaguete Airport. A Cell is composed of ten members and one Cell Leader as project facilitator. A Cell is independent from other Cells in terms of monitoring, financial build-up and internal mechanics for project development. But they share with other cells their Best (and not-so-good) Practices in order to help one another Improve the project.

  4. At the project site, there were displays of pictures on how to properly care for the ducks, and how to be a good beneficiary, which was sent out as another Powerpoint presentation earlier as an update to members. This was explained to the group by Angie Grapa.

  5. There was a meeting after Yoshinobu sensei have gone around the different beneficiaries. He shared with the group his concern about the “bird flu”. He was assured that the virus does not exist in the site. The beneficiaries are very thankful for the project as it can help them a lot in their livelihood.

  6. Some Beneficiaries’ homes.

  7. The duck pen visit.

  8. Wesly happily showed his model ducks’ nests with many eggs.

  9. After the meeting, where Yoshinobu sensei gave his commitment to support the project, the group ate the “nangka” or jackfruit prepared by the members.

  10. Yoshinobu sensei sipping the young coconut water.

  11. THE GROUP PICTURE

  12. They had a short stop to have a better view of the seashore. Yoshinobu sensei showing a banana Flower, which is very good for making salad. It was made into a very delicious meal for Angie’s family the following day.

  13. Silliman University Campus.

  14. At the Silliman University UN site: the seal and the oldest building, the Silliman Hall.

  15. All the pictures were taken by Marcille Juliet C. Grapa, that explains why she is not seen in any of the pictures. The powerpoint is made by Angie C. Grapa so that those who were not present during the visit shall have an idea what took place. We consider the visit of Yoshinobu sensei a very memorable one that inspired us with his assurance of continued support. We do hope that the sensei was happy with what he has found, although we realize that it was very tiring for him, not to mention the very hot weather.

  16. Thank you!
