2. Theme: Anti-Hero • After watching films one would know both fall into the spoof genre. The theme they both share is Anti-hero. Meaning both film’s heroes are the last people you’d expect to be an actual hero • Joseph Campbell- We all have same innate concept of what hero is. -1949

3. Anti-hero with Tropic Thunder • Actors are Dropped in Vietnam to shoot war film. Director steps on land mine and blows up with all sources of communication. Actors need to make it out of jungle alive and get past Red Dragon, drug importers who think actors are American Narks. Actors are last people you’d expect to be heroes and some how end up being war heroes by end of movie with blanks in their guns.

4. Anti-Hero With Spaceballs • Princess Vespa is being forced to marry and doesn’t want to, so she runs away to space in her daddy’s Mercedes rocket. Once the dark order of the Spaceballs finds this out they try everything in their power to catch her. The king then calls Lonestar and is sidekick Barf (half man/half dog, Mawg) to save the princess. Lonestar and Barf are hilarious , and are the last people you’d think would save the princess and bring her back home.

Anti-Hero= what hero is • With both films having the theme of anti-hero, it makes one wonder, why is that so funny? • In 1949 Joseph Campbell quoted , “Everyone in this world is born with the unconscious concept of what a hero is.” • Because of this it’s funny when somebody the total opposite of what a hero is supposed like is the hero, when a film has heroes like this it helps one establish what a real hero is because it’s the total opposite • Heroes are important to everyone because they are what drive people to succeed. Anybody who is a role-model to another person is considered a persons hero. Even if you look up to yourself, then you are your own hero • Every one has a hero.
