  2. WednesdayMay 13th, 2009 (5/13/2009) WARM UP Time Given: 3 minutes Yesterday in Julius Caesar, Brutus received Cassius’ forged letters. What does Brutus think these letters mean? What do you think would happen if Brutus found out that Cassius had forged the letters? Also, what do the conspirators decide to do about Antony—should he live or should he die?

  4. What We Learned Yesterday! NO NOTES Brutus is conflicted as to what to do—until the letters arrive. Lucius is the “do boy” of the play who runs back and forth. Act II is on March 14th, the day before Caesar’s death. Cassius wants to kill Antony with Caesar, but Brutus disagrees—Brutus states: “As for Mark Antony, forget about him. He can do no more than Caesar’s arm can do when Caesar’s head is cut off.”

  5. Scene I: Brutus receives Cassius’ forged letters. Cassius, with his group of conspirators, arrive to speak with Brutus. Brutus agrees to kill Caesar. Portia (his wife) wants to know why Brutus looks conflicted. Julius Caesar, Act II NO NOTES

  6. Scene II: Calpurnia (Caesar’s wife) has a bad dream. Caesar refuses to go to the Senate because of bad omens. Decius (a conspirator) convinces him to go to the Senate. Scene III: Artemidorus knows of the plot to kill Caesar. He writes Caesar a note to warn him. Scene IV: “The Ninth Hour.” The soothsayer warns Portia of the plot to kill Caesar.
