  2. Homelessness Strategy 2012-17 Vision We aim: • To end long term homelessness and the need to rough sleep by 2020. • To reduce the risk of homelessness through effective preventative measures. • To enhance inter agency cooperation and services to vulnerable homeless households.

Homelessness Strategy 2012-17 4 Strategic Objectives: • To place homelessness prevention at the forefront of service delivery • To reduce the length of time households and individuals experience homelessness by improving access to affordable housing • To remove the need to sleep rough • To improve services to vulnerable households and individuals

  4. Homelessness Strategy 2012-17 Objective 1 Prevention: • Research into hidden homelessness • Multi agency intervention on repeat homelessness • Multi Agency Holistic Assessment • Advice & Assistance (CHAP/ HANI/ Housing Options/ RGS) • NIHE tenancy Support • Floating Support services

  5. Homelessness Strategy 2012-17 Objective 2 Reducing the length of time in temporary accommodation: • “Pathway models” to longer term housing • Review of temporary accommodation provision • Examine the impact of Welfare Reform on homelessness • Introduce a Private rented Sector Access Scheme.

  6. Homelessness Strategy 2012-17 Objective 3 Remove the need to sleep rough: • Review service delivery with providers • A new Belfast Rough Sleeper strategy • Introduce a “Housing led” model • Referral mechanisms for homeless clients to Health Trust Addiction Services.

  7. Homelessness Strategy 2012-17 Objective 4 Services to vulnerable Households: • Domestic Violence • Offenders & Sex Offenders • Black & Minority Ethnic Community • Rural Homelessness • Youth Homelessness
